Fool's Errand Development

Privacy Policy

This policy applies to games, apps, websites, and optional FedUp Account features published by Fool's Errand Development.

Last updated: August 13, 2026

Overview

Fool's Errand Development is the game and app publishing name used by Sean Lauren. I make small games and creative projects, and the goal is to collect only what is useful for the features people choose to use.

Guest play does not require an account. Some features, such as cross-device identity, newsletter preferences, public notes, reactions, or multiplayer game rooms, may use Google sign-in and Firebase services when you choose to use them.

Accounts and identity

A FedUp Account is the parent identity intended to work across FLOW Restoration, Flock, Hangman, Illuphone, and future Fool's Errand Development projects. The current sign-in option is Google through Firebase Authentication.

When you sign in with Google, Firebase may provide a unique user ID, display name, email address, profile photo URL, authentication provider, and authentication tokens needed to keep you signed in. In this ecosystem, the Firebase user ID is currently used as the initial FedUp user ID.

Future versions may allow additional providers to be linked to the same FedUp Account. This policy will be updated as account features change.

Information games and sites may store

Games and websites may save ordinary local information on your device, such as settings, selected theme, guest name, scores, progress, word lists, drawings, submitted prompts, room codes, or similar gameplay preferences.

Online features may store the information needed to operate that feature. Examples include display names, game room membership, guesses, progress, scores, submitted words, submitted drawings, favorites, public notes, article reactions, newsletter opt-in status, and related timestamps.

Contact forms or feedback features may store the information you submit so I can respond, troubleshoot, or maintain the service.

Guest and local behavior

Guest play and local-only features may remain on the device you use. Clearing browser storage, clearing app data, using an in-game reset option, or uninstalling the app may remove local data depending on the platform.

Local guest data is not automatically connected to a future account unless a specific feature says it will do so.

Website and hosting data

If you visit a web version of a game or a related website page, hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested, date and time, and diagnostic logs. This is used for security, performance, troubleshooting, and keeping the site available.

Analytics, ads, and third parties

The games covered by this policy do not use third-party advertising SDKs and do not sell or rent user data. If basic analytics are used on a related website, they are used to understand whether pages load and how the site is being used at a general level.

Games, account features, and websites may rely on providers such as Google Firebase, Google Play, Unity, Vercel, Cloudflare, GitHub, or similar services for authentication, databases, hosting, distribution, security, diagnostics, or app review. Those providers may process data according to their own policies when they deliver, host, review, secure, or run the app or website.

Data sharing

I do not sell personal information. I may share limited information only with service providers that help operate, host, distribute, secure, authenticate, or troubleshoot the games and related websites, or if required by law.

Security

I use reasonable measures to keep games and related websites secure. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but the intent is to limit data collection and access to what is needed to operate the chosen features.

Retention and deletion

Local gameplay data stored on your device remains there until you delete it, clear app data, uninstall the app, or use an in-game reset option if one exists.

Account, newsletter, multiplayer, public-note, reaction, contact, or other online feature data may be retained as long as needed to provide the feature, maintain the service, resolve issues, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations.

You may request review or deletion of information associated with you by using the contact method below. Some deletion requests may require enough identifying information to locate the relevant account or submitted content.

Children's privacy

The games are intended for general audiences unless a specific store listing says otherwise. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me so I can review and delete it if appropriate.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy as games, account features, and services change. The latest version will be posted on this page with the updated date above.
